How I Met Your Mother 123
The year was 20xx and I was fresh out of college. I had just moved to New York City with my best friend from college, Lily. We were living in a tiny apartment and working our dream jobs.
One day, we were sitting in our living room, drinking coffee and chatting about our plans for the future when there was a knock at the door. We both jumped up to answer it, thinking it was the pizza guy. But instead, there was a tall man standing there, holding a yellow umbrella.
He introduced himself as Ted and said he was looking for his friends Robin and Barney.

How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom that originally aired on CBS from September 19, 2005, to March 31, 2014. The series follows the main character, Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), and his group of friends in Manhattan. As a framing device, Ted tells his children the story of how he met their mother.
2. The show was created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, who also served as the show’s executive producers and were frequent writers. The series was loosely inspired by their own friendship when they both lived in New York City.
3. Thomas’ father died when he was two years old, which inspired him to create a show about loss and fatherhood.
Bays has said that the characters of Marshall and Lily Eriksen (Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan) are based on himself and his wife Rebecca while Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) is based on their friend Brad Hoggatt.
4. How I Met Your Mother received critical acclaim throughout its run, winning several awards including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2014. It was nominated for 70 other awards during its run.
The show became one of the most popular sitcoms of the late 2000s/early 2010s following its success with viewers aged 18-49 years old; it consistently ranked in Nielsen’s top four ratings during its final season.
How Did You Come Up With the Idea for How I Met Your Mother
How did you come up with the idea for How I Met Your Mother?
The idea for How I Met Your Mother came to me while I was working on another show. I was thinking about how to best tell a story that spanned many years, and it occurred to me that using a framing device would be the perfect way to do it.
That’s when I came up with the idea of telling the story through flashbacks, with the present-day characters reflecting on their pasts.
I then took this concept and ran with it, creating an entire show around it. The rest, as they say, is history!
What was Your Inspiration for the Characters
When I was younger, I loved spending time with my grandparents. They were always so full of life and had the most interesting stories to tell. I think that’s where my love for storytelling comes from.
When it came time to create my own characters, I drew inspiration from the people in my life who have made the biggest impact on me. My grandmother was a huge influence on my writing, and many of the female characters in my stories are based on her. She was always so strong and independent, even in her later years, and I admired that about her immensely.
As for the male characters in my work, they are often inspired by my grandfather. He was such a kind and gentle man, but also had a mischievous side to him that I adored. Ultimately, all of the characters in my stories are a reflection of the people who have shaped me into who I am today.
How Did You Decide on the Structure of the Show
When we first started planning our show, we had a lot of ideas bouncing around. We knew we wanted it to be a daily show, but beyond that, we weren’t sure what else it would entail. After a lot of discussion and brainstorming, we landed on the structure that you see today.
Our goal was to create a show that was informative and entertaining, while also being relatable to our audience. We believe that we’ve accomplished that with our current format.
Why Did You Choose to Set the Show in New York City
We chose to set the show in New York City because it’s a truly unique and iconic place. There’s no other city quite like it in the world, and we wanted to capture that feeling for our audience. Plus, it’s just a really great place to shoot a TV show!
The variety of locations and neighborhoods provides us with endless possibilities for storylines and settings. And of course, the people of New York are just as fascinating as the city itself.
What were Some of Your Favorite Episodes Or Moments from the Show
If you grew up in the 90s, then you probably have fond memories of watching Nickelodeon’s popular sketch comedy show, All That. For many of us, it was our first introduction to some of today’s biggest stars, like Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. We laughed at their hilarious sketches and impressions, and were always excited to see what they would do next.
Looking back on the show now, there are so many episodes and moments that stand out. Here are just a few of our favorites:
– The very first episode of All That aired on April 16th, 1994.
In it, we were introduced to the cast and got to see them perform some of their most popular sketches, like Good Burger and Vital Information for the Day. It was a great start to what would become an iconic show.
– One of our all-time favorite episodes is the Halloween special from season 3.
In it, the cast performs some spooky sketches and songs that will definitely get you in the Halloween spirit. Plus, who could forget those amazing costumes?
– Another memorable moment from All That is when Justin Timberlake made a guest appearance in a sketch called “The Real Housewives of Disney.”
He played Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid and his performance was hilariously spot-on. We’re sure he had no idea at the time how big he would one day become!
These are just a few of our favorite moments from All That – but there are so many more that we could go on about forever.

Conclusion
In September 2005, Ted Mosby gathered his closest friends- Marshall Eriksen, Barney Stinson, Lily Aldrin and Robin Scherbatsky- to recount the story of how he met their mother. The group spends most of their time at McLaren’s Pub, where they pass the time by drinking and telling tall tales.
Ted began dating Robin in 2006, but they eventually broke up because Ted wanted kids and Robin didn’t.
In 2009, after much prodding from Lily, Marshall finally proposes to Lily with a yellow diamond ring. After getting over her initial shock, she accepts.
Meanwhile, Barney has been trying to woo Robin and finally succeeds in 2010 when they sleep together.
However, things quickly fizzle out between them and they go back to being friends. That same year, Ted meets Victoria at a wedding reception and falls head over heels for her. They begin dating shortly thereafter but keep it a secret from their friends for fear of jinxing it.
Unfortunately, Victoria has to move away for work and the long distance proves too difficult for them so they break up amicably in 2011.
Later that year on New Year’s Eve, Ted sees Robin across the room at a party and realizes that he’s still in love with her. He goes to tell her but gets interrupted by a phone call from his mom revealing that she is dying of cancer.
Devastated by this news, Ted returns home without confessing his feelings to Robin.
